What makes AMSOIL 5W-40 Synthetic Motor Oil Different?
5W-40 offers drivers superior protection while operating under heavy stress or with heavy loads. Due to its higher viscosity, many prefer this motor oil for high-mileage engines, as it can maintain oil pressure and reduce oil consumption compared to thinner weights.
What kind of motors use 5W-40 engine oil?
Engine manufacturers, especially those with high-RPM or turbocharged engines, prefer 5W-40 given its high shear rating and thermal properties. For instance, both the Mazda 3 2.5T and the Hyundai Veloster N recommend this motor oil weight. As well, many European engines specify 5W-40, including VW 502.00 and 505.00, BMW LL-01 and MB 229.5. You will also see diesel pickups and light-duty vans, such as the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, use this viscosity.

When would you use Freedom Series Diesel Oil?
Freedom Series Motor Oil is a joint partnership between Amsoil and Fleece Performance Engineering. This specific formulation is designed for diesel pickup trucks equipped with Fleece performance products and provides excellent turbo cleanliness, superior soot control, and exceptional wear protection for your engine and turbocharger. This motor oil will work with any Fleece system, including those found on Cummins, Duramax, or Power Stroke engines.
Can you use ATV-UTV motor oil on any brand or motor?
This will really depend on the specific brand and the owner’s manual that comes with your UTV or ATV. However, our 5W-40 ATV/UTV Motor Oil is specifically formulated for Can-Am vehicles. It can also work with Polaris, Honda, Arctic Cat, Kawasaki and any other UTV or ATV that takes 5W-40 motor oil.
What motor oil should I use for a Turbo Diesel Truck?
If you are running a stock turbo-diesel truck with a Duramax, Titan XD, Cummins, or Power Stroke engine, you may want to consider using our Signature Series 100% Synthetic Max-Duty Diesel Oil. If you are running an aftermarket Fleece Performance turbo, especially the Cheetah Turbo, you can use either the Signature Series or our specialized Freedom Series, which was developed with Fleece for their aftermarket systems.
