What makes AMSOIL's 10W-30 Motor Oil Different?
10W-30 is an ideal motor weight for those operating in mild climates and needing a thicker motor oil that performs well at high temperatures and protects against heat. Most synthetic and conventional blends will include additives to enhance cleaning and anti-wear properties for diesel and gasoline engines.
What kind of motor uses 10W-30 oil?
As more and more passenger cars seek fuel-efficient engines with tighter clearances, 10W-30 has been in decline. However, there are still plenty of older or high-performance cars that will use it to reduce leaks and overall oil consumption. Medium- and heavy-duty vehicles also use it, as do smaller diesel engines, including marine engines. However, the biggest users these days are 4-stroke motorcycle engines, including brands like Suzuki, Kawasaki and Yamaha for street bikes, sport bikes and dirt bikes.

Can I use a 10W motor oil here in Northwest Ohio during winter?
It is not normally recommended to use 10W in the winter here in Northwest Ohio. The reason is that 10W is not designed to flow well below 20 degrees, and it typically gets a fair bit colder than that. If you are looking for a quality winter oil that can handle life here in Ohio, consider 5W-30 or even 0W-30, depending on your engine’s compatibility.
Why is 10W-30 considered good for high-mileage engines?
Yes, 10W-30 is considered a great engine oil viscosity for high-mileage engines, as it maintains a slightly thicker consistency during operation, which helps seal engine components, reduce oil consumption, and prevent potential leaks.
